How do you write a mixed number as an improper fraction?

Take 15/4 for example. How many times does 15 go into 4? 4*3 is 12, so there are 3 whole numbers in that fraction. There are 3 left over numbers in 15/4 once you subtract 12 from it, so the answer is 3 and 3/4.
