conver to improper fractions
1 and 3/4=1+3/4=4/4+3/4=7/4

5/8+7/4
make bottom number same (8)
7/4 times 2/2=14/8

5/8+7/4=5/8+14/8=19/8=16/8+3/8=2 and 3/8
