so
the midpoint of
(x1,y1) and (x2,y2) is
((x1+x2)/2,(y1+y2)/2)
basically average the x and y terms

so
(7,-4) and (9,4)
average of 7 and 9 is 8
average of -4 and 4 is 0
(8,0) is the midpoint
