The COsine is the COmplementary trigonometric function of the sine. Remember what complementary angles are? They are angles which add up to 90º. So if you take the sine of a certain angle, it is equal to the value of the cosine of that complementary angle. For example, sin(30º)=cos(60º), because 60º is the complementary of 30º.
